Power Saves 2017 - Adjusting EVs, IVs and battling online without getting banned
2 - Pokémon Codes
The magic happens here and now. With these codes you can:
- change your pokémon ability;
- change your pokémon affection (those hearts in Pokémon Refresh);
- change its form (like Deoxys' multiple forms);
- add Battle Tree wins without having battled there;
- change the pokémons regional variation (for those who have it, like Rattata, Exeggutor, etc.);
- clone pokémon (Hi, I will give away some Rhyperiors Lv.5, do you want one?);
- adjust EVs (it's faster and more efficient than Poké Pelago);
- adjust experience points (that's how it is possible to have a Rhyperior Lv.5);
- maximize friendship (for Return users);
- adjust IVs (lol, that's pretty broken);
- change pokémons' moves;
- change pokémons' natures (that's OP too);
- change the pokéball type of which that pokémon was caught (Charmander in a Dive Ball, wtf...);
- add ribbons;
- change sex;
- make pokémon shiny or unshiny the ones who already are (why?).
Apply the changes you've made after finishing all the processes and go back to the game.
Now, let's proceed to the main stuff.
WARNING: Most of the processes described here are valid ONLY for the pokémon in your BOX 1 SLOT 1. Be sure to have the right pokémon in BOX 1 SLOT 1 to apply some of the codes mentioned below.
2.1 - Ability Modifier (BOX 1 SLOT 1 ONLY)
It says what it does. You can modify the ability of an existing pokémon to ANY ability you want. You can do it with only one pokémon at a time.
Don't mess with the first 4 options. They are more complex and have the same effect of selecting the ability by its name.
WARNING #1: Changing the pokémon ability to an ability it can't have (like putting LEVITATE in a Raichu) will make it unable to be used in Wi-Fi Battles, to be GTS traded or Wonder Traded.
WARNING #2: If you change Decidueye, Primarina and Incineroar abiltities to their hidden abilities, they will be unable to be used in Wi-Fi Battles, to be GTS traded or Wonder Traded. Why? Because there is no way avaliable to make them with it. I tried it, believe me. I don't know if this applies to all Gen.7 pokémon. If I were you, for Gen.7 pokémon I'd choose between the 1st and 2nd abilities when avaliable. Don't tinker with the Gen.7 hidden abilities for now.
So, I recommend you to be "a good scientist". Only give abilities that are possible for that pokémon, if you want to use it online. Be reasonable at least.
2.2 - Cloning
Well, you caught a wild shiny Bruxish and you want to give it to many people via Wonder Trade, what to do? Clone it. The options are pretty simple and self-explanatory. You can clone only one pokémon at a time.
WARNING: If you select "CLONE FROM BOX 1 SLOT 1 TO BOX 1 SLOT 2, 3, 4, 5, 6" and you have other pokémons in these slots, they will be replaced by the clones. As a safety measure, please let your BOX 1 only with the pokémon you are working on.
Then the pokémon will be cloned. Everything with it, including the item it is holding.
2.3 - Adjusting EVs (BOX 1 SLOT 1 ONLY)
That's one of the main features of Power Save. Adjusting EVs. Poké Pelago is good but takes a while and you can't do much if your pokémon has already gained some EVs before. Also, you must be aware that the maximum EVs a pokémon can have are 510, so if you are not good at math, get your calculator ready. You can do it with only one pokémon at a time.

510 points to be distributed across HP, Atk, Def, Speed, Sp.Atk and Sp.Def. |
I will give a practical sample here with a Mewtwo I got in GTS.
According to Pokémon Database, Mewtwo can have at Lv.100 maximum 394 speed with a speed beneficial nature (like Timid) and 31 IVs in speed. These are the stats of the Mewtwo I got:
The photo is crap because my phone camera is also a crap. Translating:
Mewtwo Lv.100 Rash Nature (+Sp.Atk, -Sp.Def)
0 EVs; 31 IVs at Sp.Atk, Sp.Def and Speed. (Legendary pokémon always come with 31 EVs in three stats randomly chosen. I checked it using the JUDGE function, avaliable after you hatch at least 20 eggs in the game. Google it "Pokémon Sun and Moon IV Judge" for more details)
HP 325 ATK 254 DEF 210 SP ATK 376 SP DEF 194 SPEED 263
Then, with Power Save, I modified its EVs, IVs and nature as it follows:
Mewtwo Lv.100 Timid Nature (+Speed, -Atk)
EVs Distribution: HP 0 ATK 0 DEF 0 SP.ATK 250 SP.DEF 10 SPEED 250
EVs Distribution: HP 0 ATK 0 DEF 0 SP.ATK 250 SP.DEF 10 SPEED 250
IVs : HP 30 ATK * DEF 30 SP ATK 31 SP DEF 31 SPEED 31
*I didn't change the IVs on ATK. I will explain later why.
Now, the result:
Comparing before and after:
BEFORE
HP 325 ATK 254 DEF 210 SP ATK 376 SP DEF 194 SPEED 263
AFTER
HP 352 ATK 230 DEF 215 SP ATK 406 SP DEF 217 SPEED 393
Considering that Mewtwo's maximum speed is 394, I think it is pretty fast now. xD
IMPORTANT: Remember that the pokémon can have maximum 252 EVs in a single stat. So, if my Mewtwo had 252 instead of 250 EVs it would have 394 speed.
Power Save gives many standard values to be selected when distributing the EVs. Then, it is up to you to maximize a single stat or not. People usually don't give a damn about putting EVs in DEF or SP.DEF, so they usually maximize EVs in ATK or SP.ATK and SPEED. I usually don't do it. I did it this time just to demonstrate. Also note that in most Wi-fi battles pokémons are automatically set to Lv.50, so the stats of a Lv.100 pokémon drop by half, that means my Mewtwo will have around 196 speed. To check it while in battle, select "Pokémon > summary" and it will show its current status at Lv.50. If it is mega evolved, it will show its stats mega evolved.
2.4 - Experience Modifier Codes (BOX 1 SLOT 1 ONLY)
Pass it to Lv.100 or return it to Lv.1 if you want to. Just select the corresponding option given. You can do it with only one pokémon at a time.
WARNING: If you select pokémons like Articuno (whose minimum level to be obtained is 50) to be with less than 600k xp and give it lots of rare candies to be Lv.50 again, it won't be possible to use it in Wi-Fi Battles, GTS traded or Wonder traded. I don't know why, but it happened to me. As a safety measure, don't mess with XP points of legendary pokémon.
I don't know why, but when you evolve a pokémon like Rhyhorn to Rhydon, then to Rhyperior (minimum Lv.42) and you change Rhyperior's XP to 1, you will have a Rhyperior Lv.1 that CAN BE TRADED normally online. Maybe that's why the company is called Game Freak. They don't allow some stuff, but they do allow other stuff. Wtf? 😑
2.5 - IV Codes (BOX 1 SLOT 1 ONLY)
You can do it with only one pokémon at a time.
The maximum IV given to a single stat is 31. Can a pokémon have 31 IVs in all stats? It is impossible. As stated up there, legendary and mythical pokémon usually have 3 stats with maximum IVs, the other 3 stats have random IVs. But with Power Save you can make a pokémon have 31 IVs in all 6 stats. That's broken, but let me tell you one important thing.
When I adjust my pokémon's IVs, I don't put everything 31. If it is legendary, I choose 3 stats to put 31, 2 stats to put 30 and the stat I won't need I don't change its IV. If it is not a legendary, I choose 1 stat to put 31, 5 stats with 30 and the stat I won't need I don't change its IV. Why?
Greed is bad. Power Save allows you to have perfect IVs. I don't like the sound of it. I only have it because I got tired of having my beloved hard trained pokémon to be smashed like cockroaches by other pokémon who were far away stronger than everything. I researched and discovered that many trainers do it. During official competitions worldwide there is a hack detector that identifies pokémon altered by "other means". But most people don't participate, so, no worries.
It is up to you to maximize IVs or not. Be polite and not so unfair. Many trainers around the world don't know Power Saves. Don't smash their pokémon that way. It is not nice.
My standard is the following:
LEGENDARIES: 3 stats with 31 IVS, 2 with 30 and 1 unchanged.
REGULARS: 1 stat with 31 IVS, 4 with 30 and 1 unchanged.
2.6 - Move modifier (BOX 1 SLOT 1 ONLY)
You can do it with only one pokémon at a time.
This one is easy. Just select the move slot and the move you want.
WARNING: Selecting a move that the pokémon doesn't learn by any means in Pokémon Sun and Moon will make the pokémon unable to be used in Wi-Fi battles, GTS traded or Wonder traded.
Saying that, I mean a very practical example. Take a look:
Toxicroak does not learn the move Gunk Shot by breeding in Pokémon Sun and Moon. But it does in Pokémon ORAS. That means, if your Toxicroak was born in Paniola Ranch, it can't have this move. If you put it, it will be unable to be used in Wi-Fi battles, GTS traded or Wonder traded. Because there is no way for it to learn in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
BUT, if your Toxicroak came "through space and time from the Hoenn region" you can put the move in it. The same applies to other pokémon. You can always check where your pokémon came from in their summary, then press the R button to see its nature and origin.
So, when choosing the moves, be restricted to those that can be learned by breeding, the ones in its move set or the ones learned via TMs. Remember: Kangaskhan can't learn Fly.😝
2.7 - Nature Codes
These ones are kind of flexible. Just choose the nature you want your pokémon to have, apply the code and go back to the game.
Nature changes can be made for more than one pokémon at a time. YES, it can. Take a look:
Maximum 5 pokémons at a time. Just be sure to have the pokémons in the correct order, after all, you won't want an Alakazam with an adamant nature, right? 😏
2.8 - Pokéball caught (BOX 1 SLOT 1 ONLY)
I used ultra balls to catch that Togedemaru, but I really wanted it in a Premier Ball. This code is for this kind of situation. You can do it with only one pokémon at a time.
Pretty simple. Choose the pokéball type, apply the code and go back to the game.
WARNING: Changing some pokéballs type to pokéballs that are not possible to be obtained in Pokémon Sun and Moon can make the pokémon unable to be used in Wi-Fi Battles, GTS traded or Wonder traded.
In this list, please avoid choosing:
- Cherish ball (for event exclusive pokémon only);
- Sport ball (wtf, I don't even know where the hell did this thing came from);
- Dream ball (it shows up in Pokémon Black and White, but I am not sure if it can be ok only to Pokémon originally found in the Unova region. For safety reasons, don't choose it;
- Safari ball (give me a break, there is no safari zone in Pokémon Sun and Moon).
There is some stuff that the game accepts, but you should also avoid it, so that people around the world won't call you a hacker.
- Beast ball
It is used to catch ultra-beasts and has a low catch rate for regular pokémon, though it doesn't mean they can't be caught. It is just too difficult.
- Dive ball for fire pokémon; heavy ball for light pokémon.
Do I have to say anything? 😒
2.9 - Shiny pokémon
Last but not least, shiny pokémon. It is possible to make a non-shiny pokémon to be shiny. It can be applied to more than one pokémon at a time too, just like the nature codes.
WARNING: Turning a non-shiny pokémon to shiny will RESET the pokémon's IVs. Also, there are some pokémon that are impossible to be shiny in regular ways, like the 3 starters in Sun and Moon. So, if you face a shiny Primarina, Decidueye or Incineroar: Power Save user detected.
So, if you want to turn a non-shiny to shiny, do it like this:
1st - select Turn pokémon in Box 1 Slot 1 shiny;
2nd - apply the code;
3rd - adjust IVs;
4th - adjust EVs;
5th - apply the code and go back to the game.
There is another thing you must know about shiny pokémon.
If you face another trainer in Wi-Fi Battles who has shiny pokémon, it is almost 100% certain that his/her pokémon has its EVs and IVs adjusted by Power Save. So, expect a hard time battling them. Unless you are too fanatic for shiny pokémon, avoid turning them to shiny, at least non-Power Save users will think they lost to a regular pokémon. 😔
You can apply multiple codes at a time for the same pokémon. Just be careful not to get lost in the process.
Well, I think I covered it all. The next post will be about WONDERCARD CODES and how to generate eggs via Power Save in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Thanks for reading, and a feedback would be really appreciated. 😉
